Using Protocol Linetypes

Protocol linetypes allow VidCAD users to visually display different protocols of the same signal type. For example, there are many different protocols of the Digital Video signal type. HD is a protocol of Digital Video. The image below shows you a variety of cables beginning with no protocol linetype and several other cables with different styles of protocol linetypes for the Digital Video signal type. The following procedure will guide you through creating a cable with a signal protocol linetype.

1.    Select “Phantom Cable Transmutate” from the VidCAD Cables ribbon or toolbar.

2.     Select a phantom cable to be transmutated.

3.    In the Ask for Cable Number window, check the “Use Protocol Linetype” box.

4.    Select the protocol linetype you wish to use.
Note: There are numerous protocol linetypes available for each signal type.

5.    Select “Ok” to accept the protocol linetype and cable number.

6.    The cable is now transmutated using a signal protocol linetype.
