Protocol Linetypes Overview

VidCAD recognizes 12 standard signal types.

There are dozens of additional types of signals, but they are generally variations (protocols) of one of the standard signal types listed above. To accommodate these signal type variations, VidCAD created protocol linetypes to visually display different protocols of the same signal type. For example, there are many different protocols of the Digital Video signal type such as HD, SDI, SDI with embedded Audio.

The image below shows you a variety of cables beginning with no protocol linetype and several other cables with different styles of protocol linetypes for the Digital Video signal type.

The table below lists all protocol linetypes that are currently available in VidCAD. You can also create additional protocol linetypes to meet your design needs.

The protocol linetypes listed in gray that have the “_L” at the end of the name only repeat every 20 units. The image below displays the look of standard and long protocol linetypes.
